Magazine-grade twilight exteriors shot in the 20-minute window after sunset, when the sky still glows but every interior light is on and warm. The single most powerful image you can put at the top of a premium listing.

The hero shot that buyers screenshot and share
Why twilight outperforms daytime
The most-clicked image on Rightmove premium listings
A glowing dusk exterior consistently outperforms midday photos as the lead image. It signals "this is a special property" before the buyer reads a single word.
Hides the things daylight reveals
Overcast skies, neighbouring buildings, dated guttering, weathered render — twilight's soft blue gradient and warm interior glow flatter every property.
Sells lifestyle, not just bricks
Warm windows, lit landscaping and a deep-blue sky communicate "home" in a way no daytime photo can. Particularly powerful for premium, country and waterfront homes.
Differentiates premium listings
On a portal where every other agent shoots in daylight, a single twilight image makes your listing impossible to scroll past.

How it works
01
Plan the lighting
We do a pre-shoot walkthrough to identify which interior lights to switch on, which curtains to open, and where any landscape or path lighting could lift the result.
02
Shoot the blue hour
We arrive 30 minutes before sunset to set up. The actual hero window is the 20 minutes immediately after sunset, when the sky is deep blue but still glowing — that's when we shoot.
03
Blend and grade
Each hero shot is built from 5–9 bracketed exposures and light-painted frames, blended in post for perfectly lit windows, deep sky and crisp detail. Delivered within 48 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions
What time of day is "twilight"?
The hero window is the 20–30 minutes immediately after sunset, known as the "blue hour". The sky is still glowing deep blue but interior lights now read clearly. In Edinburgh this varies from around 16:00 in midwinter to 22:30 in midsummer — we time the booking to your local sunset.
Can you do twilight shoots in winter?
Yes — and winter is often the best time. The early sunset means we can shoot at a sociable hour (around 16:00–17:00) and the bare trees often give cleaner sightlines. The only constraint is weather: heavy rain or thick low cloud will postpone the shoot.
What if the weather is bad?
A little cloud is actually ideal — it catches the sunset colour. But heavy rain, fog or fully overcast skies kill the result, so we'll postpone and rebook within the week at no charge.
Do I need to do anything to prepare?
Yes — and it makes a huge difference. Turn on every interior light (including lamps, hood lights and bathrooms), open all blinds and curtains, switch on any garden, path or driveway lighting, close garage doors, move cars off the driveway, and ensure bins are out of view. We send a full prep checklist when you book.
Can twilight be added to a daytime shoot?
Yes — and it's the most cost-effective option. We shoot the daytime work in the afternoon, hold on site through golden hour, then capture the twilight exteriors as the sun sets. One visit, two completely different sets of hero images.
How many twilight images will I get?
Typically 2–4 finished hero shots. Each one is built from multiple exposures (often 5–9 frames) blended in post — so while you get fewer images than a daytime shoot, each one takes 10–15 times longer to produce and is far more impactful.
Is twilight photography worth the cost on a £200k flat?
Honestly — usually not. Twilight delivers the biggest ROI on premium properties (typically £400k+), country houses, new-build developments and listings where the exterior, lighting or setting is a major selling point. For a standard city flat, daytime HDR photography usually represents better value.
Can you do twilight drone shots?
Yes — combined twilight ground and aerial shots are possible during the same shoot window. Aerial twilight is particularly powerful for waterfront properties, country houses and developments where the setting matters as much as the building.
